MSC Cruises has finally released their 2016-2017 South America cruise schedule and we can already see the company has reduced its program compared to the current one. There will now be just the four ships rather than five, although it is good to see MSC Preziosa coming to the region from next year.
The MSC ships that will be part of the 2016-2017 South America program are the Armonia, Musica, Orchestra and Preziosa. This is compared to the Armonia, Lirica, Magnifica, Poesia and Splendida that are currently sailing in that region this season.
The reason for losing one ship in South America is due to MSC needing the extra ship for the Asian market, which many cruise lines are now trying to do. The Chinese market is set to boom over the next few years, and the likes of MSC, and NCL, as the Norwegian Star and MSC Lirica are both being refitted to cater for Southeast Asia.
In total there are to be 73 MSC sailings in South America for the 2016-2017 season. We also know that the biggest lure for those choosing to cruise in that region will look forward to Preziosa, as she is the newest ship in the fleet.
