Celebrity Cruises cancels Istanbul call over travel warning

Celebrity Cruises cancels Turkey call over travel warning

With cruise lines canceling cruises to Tunisia earlier this year, some of them are now adding Istanbul, Turkey to the list of places that are not safe for them to call at. Celebrity Cruises has now cancelled its call at Istanbul, which now makes them the second cruise company to do so – Costa Cruises being the first.

Celebrity Reflection was due to overnight in Istanbul on her next cruise, but will not do so from this month, and for the rest of 2015 at this time. This is due to safety concerns in the region, as there are now fears of terrorist attacks. This is the very reason why we have decided to not even consider a holiday in Turkey at all this year.

We have to wonder if the likes of Thomson Cruises will take Istanbul of their itinerary seeing as though this is a main port for their Med cruises?

This is not even the first time that Celebrity decided to cancel a call at Istanbul, as they did the same for Celebrity Reflection’s overnight call there as well.

Do not worry though, as Celebrity is to replace this port of call with Athens, which to some of you will be a better compromise anyway.

This headline is misleading – they only cancelled Istanbul. They have yet to cancel Ephesus or Kusadasi.
