Carnival prepares for new class of cruise ship in Europe

Carnival prepares for new class of cruise ship

Carnival Vista will call Europe home for summer 2016, although once done she will then be heading to the US, which means once again that Carnival Cruise Line will not have a ship in Europe. However, this will not always be the case, as the cruise line has already made plans to change all that in 2018 and beyond.

Carnival Corporation has invested €30 million to build a new terminal building in the Port of Barcelona, and is reported to begin in 2016 and be completed by 2018. The company also has plans to build the ports first public car park located on the cruise pier.

Carnival Corporation already has a huge presence in Barcelona, although only with its other cruise lines. However, the new port is being built to coincide with the launch of the new class of Carnival cruise ship, which starts its maiden voyage in 2018. There will also be a second ship of this new class in 2019.

Not much is really known about these new class of Carnival cruise ships, although we suspect they will be very different to Vista, as they will be designed to cater solely for the European market.
