If you were booked to sail on the Fred. Olsen mini-cruise onboard Balmoral on June 20, this Saturday, then we have some very bad news for you. Due to another Norovirus outbreak, the line has made the obvious decision to cancel this upcoming cruise. However, the June 23 cruise is unaffected and will go ahead as normal.
Fred. Olsen does not like cancelling cruises, but felt this was the best way to respond to the new Norovirus outbreak. Once passengers leave the ship after the 11-night Scandinavian cruise she will then return to Southampton to undergo a deep clean.
This will take place on June 20, the date she was meant to sail once again. Passengers affected by this cancellation have been offered a choice of options. They can either transfer their cruise to one later in the year, or opt for a two-week cruise for an extra £250 – not bad seeing as though Saturday’s cruise was only for 3 days.
However, passengers can also choose to get a full refund and then get a 25 per cent voucher off another cruise. The best option would be to go for a two week cruise and pay a further £250, as this is the better deal.
