Since the terrible things that took place in Tunisia yesterday, it was only a matter of time before the travel industry started to take action. Costa Cruises and MSC Cruises have both cancelled all ports of call to Tunisia for the rest of the 2015 season.
Costa did have 39 port stops planned for Tunisia this year, while MSC ships such as Splendida have also been cancelled. As yet both cruise lines have not offered full details about where these ships will stop, although we are sure they will be contacting affected passengers in due course.
Having said that, we can tell you that MSC Splendida will be calling at Valletta, Preziosa at Cagliari and Fantasia will be heading to Palma instead.
It’s a pretty quick reaction that Costa and MSC cancels 2015 Tunisia cruises, and so we now wait to see what some of the other lines will be doing. Cruise Critic has tried to contact P&O, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line and Oceania to ask about their Tunisia schedule, although they have yet to offer any sort of update.
We have been on their websites and there are no sort of travel warnings as yet, and so we guess they wait to see what the Foreign Office has to say. Having said that, if they do not cancel the rest of their 2015 Tunisia cruise itinerary, then this would make them look bad against Costa and MSC.
