Not one to feel left out, MSC Cruises has signed as deal with Fincantieri to build two new ships, one of which has the prototype name of Seaside. We are not certain if this name will stick, but we just cannot see it. There is an option for a third ship, but this will depend on the success of the other two.
Seaside will be the largest ship built by Fincantieri, and we are told that these new MSC cruise sips will come with some innovative features. This is no surprise seeing as though Quantum of the Seas will make many other cruise ships on the seas look a little dated.
MSC has said that these ships will have a revolutionary structure, and have boldly said that it will be unlike any other cruise ship, now we are intrigued.
The cruise company has yet to offer any details as to what features these ships will have, but they have shared a few important figures. Each ship is to cost €700 million, with the first to enter service in November 2017 and the second in May 2018.
MSC Seaside will be 323 metres long, 43 metres wide and 70 metres high. The gross tonnage will be 154,000 tons, and is large enough to carry 5,300 and 1,413 crew members.
Thanks to MSC.
