Today, we wanted to highlight some news that broke within the last week from Royal Caribbean International’s Facebook page and some of our readers might not have spotted it unless they follow the popular cruise brand on this social network.
RCI’s Anthem of the Seas has seen its first steel cut in Germany. The picture included with this news can be seen on this page, although the Facebook page also included a question about how do cruise goers celebrate big milestones like this? Feel free to also hit the comments with how you celebrate on cruise ships.
Anthem of the Seas is a Quantum-class cruise ship and joins Quantum of the Seas as the first two ships in this class. Anthem of the Seas has a delivery date of spring 2015, although finer details are yet to be revealed considering how far away this date is.
Quantum of the Seas has reportedly been given a date for November 23, 2014. This is when it is expected to enter service with Royal Caribbean. Both ships have a gross tonnage of 167,000 and while we know the home port for Quantum, the Anthem of the Seas home port is yet to be announced.
We should also note a contract has been signed for a third Quantum-class cruise ship, although the name is yet to be revealed but we do hear a Mid-2016 launch date is expected.
