We are used to seeing some of the big cruise ship companies spending a small fortune on just one ship refit, but Oceania Cruises is to spend $50 million on three of its ships. The Oceania Cruises 2014 refit schedule is to include the Regatta, Insignia and Nautica.
Each ship will enter dry dock from April 24 – June 6, 2014 and will take six weeks to complete. The refurbishment is to the aging staterooms, suites and many of the public places.
The bathrooms in the Regatta, Insignia and Nautica Owner’s and Vista suites will get a much-needed refurb, and casual dining is to also receive an update, such as the Terrace Café and there will also be a new place to drink a hot beverage in the new Baristas coffee bar.
Smoking onboard cruise ships has become very strict, with many cruise lines banning smoking inside any part of the ship. However, Oceania still has indoor smoking areas, but these will soon be closed in and a new air filtration system to help contain the smoke.
Many of these new features for the Regatta, Insignia and Nautica have come from Oceania Cruises O-class ships, and so will give a new lease of life to these older ships.
