Passengers who had been booked to go on the Celebrity Xpedition to the Galapagos Islands have been upset about their cruise being canceled, and for good reason. However, there is now more heartache, as another cruise has been cancelled, making this the third one.
We already knew about the June 2, and June 9 cancellations, but now the June 16 cruise has had to be cancelled because of the ongoing dispute with the Galapagos National Park. Celebrity Cruises is trying to get the license reinstated, which would allow them to fulfill future cruises.
Like before, if you were due to sail on June 16, then you will get a full refund and 25 percent cruise credit, which is based on the figure that you had paid for the June 16 cruise. If you had booked with a third-party for your travel, then you will be refunded your change fee, or a full refund for those who booked their flights through Celebrity.
Celebrity is currently serving a 45-day suspension for carrying 12 kilos of lobster tails out of season, even though they were purchased long before the deadline. They understand that a change in the law had taken place, but they did not have knowledge of this because it was published over a month after that law had changed.
We don’t know the full details of what has happened behind the scenes, but this does sound like a bad case of politics.
