There is huge excitement to know that Oasis of the Seas will be in Southampton on a mini-European cruise, and because this move proved so popular with RCI, it’s obvious that they would need to try and top it somehow. It’s for this reason why we were happy to learn that Quantum of the Seas inaugural cruise for her transatlantic part of the journey will start from Southampton.
We know that this ship is not as large as Oasis, but she’s still a big deal because of the unique features on this new class of ship, which will include two more over the next few years. Quantum of the Seas will arrive in Southampton on November 2, 2014, where she will then head on to Cape Liberty Port, New Jersey on November 10 2014.
No doubt these bookings have gone through the roof, just as they did when Royal Caribbean took bookings for Oasis of the Seas leaving from Southampton. It’s tough to know if Quantum will be able to top it, but no doubt agents will be doing their best to sell this cruise, as they could be in with a chance for a free mini cruise themselves.
How great would it be to see the Quantum of the Seas, Oasis of the Seas and also the Independence of the Seas all in Southampton at the same time, now that would be a great PR stunt? P&O had their entire fleet in the port of Southampton less than a year ago, and that was part of their 175 years in the industry.
