We already knew that RCI had a deal in place for two Quantum-Class ships, the Quantum of the Seas and the Anthem of the Seas, expected to debut in 2014 and 2015 respectively. However, Royal Caribbean will add a third member to the family.
The third ship in this class will debut in 2016, although we are still uncertain of her name. However, if we are to go back to the original trademarks from RCI earlier this year, then the next in the class could be called Passion of the Seas, Vantage of the Seas, Ovation of the Seas or Pulse of the Seas – what’s your money on?
Today @royalcaribbean confirms 3rd Quantum-class ship to be built at Meyer Werft Shipyard.

Having a third Quantum-Class ship in the RCI fleet by 2016 will give the company a much needed boost, although we do fear cruise ship bookings could take a slight fall in light of current problems, such as recent issues with select Carnival ships, and also the fire that broke out onboard Grandeur of the Seas a few days ago.
However, RCI were able to react quickly and never lost power, but it does highlight just how vulnerable you are on a cruise ship while out at sea. Having said that, these incidents are not a regular occurrence, and as you would imagine safety measures are being improved on all the time, to ensure that these problems do not keep happening.
