Norwegian Cruise Line has reported today that the Norwegian Jade will enter dry dock on November 26, 2011 and the Norwegian Spirit in two days time on September 25, 2011. The refit for both cruise ships is expected to cost in the millions, and after these two ships enter dry dock, it will mean that Norwegian Cruise Line has revamped four ships this year alone with the previous being Norwegian Sun and Norwegian Dawn.
The Norwegian Spirit will be in dry dock for 13-days in Mobile, Alabama. The refurbishment will include revamping the ship’s buffet restaurant, adding a aerobics room, new silk plants around the ship, more ramps to help disabled guests, improvements to staterooms, over 60,000 SQ feet of new carpet, and some much needed wireless Internet throughout the ship.
Just two months later the Norwegian Jade will enter dry dock on November 26, 2011 in Marseille, France. Improvements will include the addition of a Brazilian steakhouse on Deck 8, and enhancements to the ships systems, which include a new coat of paint to the hull, new seals for Azipod propulsion, and new thrust bearings and propeller.
Have you been on the Norwegian Jade or Spirit recently, would you agree they both needed some improvements?
