The Cruise International Awards for 2011 were awarded today in London, and the list of winners should have been shown today on the Cruise International Facebook page, although this has now changed and the results will be shown in full tomorrow morning.
If you do not know what the event is about, you can see the video below this article that explains the Cruise International Awards over a couple of minutes, and it also features a nice theme from “The Apprentice”. This is thanks to Nick Hewer presenting the awards today in London.
The video also shows some highlights of the best cruise ships, which includes water shoots and stats about cruising. It’s claimed that the cruise industry is the fastest growing industry in the travel sector.
With more than 180,000 votes cast in this years awards, it will be good to see who the winners are. The awards include “Cruise Line of the Year”, “River Cruise Line of the Year”, “Innovation of the Year”, “Cruise Celebrity of the Year”, “Most Outstanding New Ship of 2010/2011”, “Best Live Performance”, “Best Entertainment Activities”, “Best Shore Excursions”, “Best for Kids”, “Best Dining”, “Best for Well-Being”, “Best Value Cruise Line”, “Cruise Travel Agency of the Year”, “Coolest Cruise Captain”, “Cruise Destination of the Year”, and a couple of others.
We have a little spoiler for you thanks to the official Facebook page for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines. We can confirm right now that the “Best Educational Cruise” award went to Fred. Olsen for their Vistas programme, and the cruise line also won “Best Live Performance” for Opera Babes under the Music and Laughter Programme, and also “Ocean Cruise Line of the Year”.
We’ll update this article when we get all the winners (so bookmark this page or join our Twitter/Facebook page), but in the meantime let us know if you think these awards are a good idea, especially considering it’s the first time this year.
Update: Best cruise photos and blogger of the year 2011 found here, and more winners at facebook.com/cruiseinternational.
