Published on August 2nd, 2011
Carnival Dream was the setting for the new movie Alvin And The Chipmunks 3: Chipwrecked that is due to be released on the 16th December 2011. The movie was shot on the 22nd January 2011 with stops to Honduras, Cozumel, Belize and Costa Maya. The filming is said to have taken place on the ship’s open upper decks with scenes featuring actor Jason Lee who plays Dave and the antics of the chipmunks in the outdoor recreation areas.
This would have been great for the children to see happening but there are a few passengers that have said that the filming got in the way of their cruise experience due to certain locations all over the ship being shut down during the filming for up to 3 hours. Some passengers who were on the ship at the time have also said It would have been better if there would have been advanced warning where they would be filming and at what times so that they could have avoided those areas.
Carnival Dream is a130,000-ton ship that entered service in September 2009. The ship can cater for around 3,646 Passengers over 13 fantastic Passenger Decks and features 2 Pools, Basketball Courts, Mini Golf and a number of great restaurants.
The question is was you on the ship during the filming? If so please leave your thoughts on your cruise experience and whether the filming got in the way of your holiday in the comments box below. You can see the trailer to the new movie here.
