Norwegian Cruise Line: help name two Project Breakaway ships

It has been announced that Norwegian Cruise Line are asking the public to help name their two new ships that due for delivery in April 2013 and April 2014. The competition, which started on The 18th July, will end on the 14th August. The winners will be announced in September and they will receive a trip for two to the first ship’s inaugural festivities, including the Christening Ceremony.

Kevin Sheehan who is the Norwegian’s CEO said “We know how passionate cruisers are about new ship launches, so it seems only fitting that we look to them to help name our two Project Breakaway ships.”

These two next generation Freestyle ships will take the best from the 10 other existing ships, including the Norwegian Star and Sun, which was launched in 2001 and the Norwegian Epic that was launched just last year.

Its said that the cruise line plans to reveal more details of what will be aboard the two new ships in the coming months, but what we do know is that Project Breakaway, which is what the ships are currently known by will be the largest passenger cruise ships to be built in Germany. Each ship will have 238 mini-suites, 1,024 balcony staterooms and all rooms will feature LED lighting that surrounds the perimeter of the ceiling to give the room warmth.
