On the 30th June 2011 the Chairman and CEO of Costa Crociere signed for the delivery of their new flagship Costa Favolosa at the Fincantieri office. Costa Favolosa departed from Venice Maritime Station on the 1st July and headed to Trieste for her waterfront naming ceremony, which took place on the 2nd July 2011.
The naming ceremony was a black-tie event with around 2000 guests in attendance and started around midnight in Trieste’s grand Piazza Unita d’Italia. Costa Cruises are also said to be gearing up to re-launch sailings out of the city in 2012.
The naming ceremony lasted around 90-minutes and ended with Italian film star Margareth Madè serving as godmother breaking of a bottle against the ships hull. The Costa Favolosa is scheduled to spend this coming summer sailing out of Venice to Olympia, Greece, Bari, Italy, Izmir, Dubrovnik, Croatia and Istanbul, Turkey.
This fantastic new ship features 1.508 cabins including 594 with private balconies and 12 suites with direct access to the spa. There is also a 4D Cinema, a Grand Prix Simulator, Golf Simulator and PlayStation World Area. There is without a doubt something for everyone on this fantastic new ship.
