Royal Caribbean heads to Shanghai in 2012

From June to October 2012 Voyager of the Seas will be in Shanghai offering great cruises. The ship will be double the size of any cruise ship that will be operating in the Asia-Pacific region. Voyager of the Seas can hold around 3,114-passengers and currently spends its summers in Europe, and is said to be one of the world’s largest cruise ships.

Royal Caribbean’s managing director of China and Asia said, “With China becoming the world’s second largest economy, nobody doubts the great potential of the Chinese cruising market. We weren’t the earliest to enter the Chinese market, but we believe we are entering the market at the best time.”

Voyager of the Seas will apparently sail to Kobe and Fukuoka in Japan and Jeju and Busan in Korea but the itinerary is yet to be finalized. Legend of the Seas is also due to return to Shanghai in March 2012, which will be its fourth season in China.

The new sailings out of Shanghai will be aimed at Chinese holidaymakers, but will also be designed to attract holidaymakers from around the world.
