Yesterday Shirley Bassey become the godmother to P&O’s new cruise ship Adonia in a naming ceremony in Southampton. Just as a good old British sparkling wine exploded against ship’s hull, Shirley said, “I name this ship Adonia may God bless her and all who sail in her.”
The Adonia, P&O‘s newest addition to its cruise fleet, will set sail on its maiden voyage to the Mediterranean on Sunday and will cater exclusively for adults.
Adonia is said to be the smallest of the seven ships and is designed to offer an intimate cruising experience. This ship will be able to hold 710 passengers. The Adonia may be a smaller ship but it still has a number of great features including a central atrium with grand staircase, 8 bars, Oasis Spa and Health Club, 2 pools and 2 whirlpool spas and much more. You can read more on the naming ceremony here.
Do you think that having adult only cruise ships is a good idea, or do you think they should all be available for family’s? Please share your cruise experiences with others in the comment box below.
