Most people that have been on a Celebrity cruise ship will know how they give you extra, from the cold towels and drink when getting back on the boat, to making sure everyone keeps their hands clean, you got to love being looked after the “Celebrity” way.
We had the pleasure of trying out the Celebrity Eclipse in October 2010, and it turned out to be the best ship we tried yet. Lucky enough, we had the pleasure of having some personal time with the captain and the cruise director could not do enough for us, real personal service.
Today, we wanted to show you a Celebrity cruises app, called ShipMate, which works on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. You will be able to find the location of your ship using the app, although you need Internet to do this, and with that information on the TVs in your stateroom, we find that feature useless.
The countdown until you depart is a nice feature, one that will have you counting the days until you cruise, and the deck maps are handy to have in the palm of your hand. Also not all ships keep you updated that well with weather, so this is a nice feature, although you will need Internet again.
When you cruise it’s like your one big family, maybe not all the time, but people tend to be really friendly and as such, you make friends, some for life. The app has a feature that lets you add contacts with pictures, which is pretty handy as well.
Sadly the Ship Mate app for iOS has some problems with it crashing and the itinerary has been wrong on a few occasions, even after the latest update. You can download the app via Apple iTunes.
Have you used the Ship Mate app? Thinking about a Celebrity cruise, or have you been on one, share your thoughts in the comments.
